Boulder College Student Criminal Defense Attorney
For a college student, a criminal arrest can have far-reaching effects. In addition to criminal penalties, you may also be subject to a disciplinary proceeding at school that could result in suspension or expulsion. If you are arrested on drug charges, you could lose eligibility for student loans. You may even find that certain career choices are no longer available to you.
I am lawyer Marc Milavitz. If you have been charged with a crime while attending University of Colorado Boulder or another Colorado school, my goal is to minimize the effect of the arrest on your future. I defend students charged with all types of criminal offenses, including:
- Underage drinking and minor in possession
- Domestic violence
- Sex crimes, including date rape
- Drug offenses
- Academic cheating
- Fraudulent I.D.
I aggressively challenge arrests that are based on improper police behavior, such as illegal stops and searches that violate your constitutional rights. I successfully had a municipal fraudulent I.D. statute declared unconstitutional because it was overbroad.
Advising You in School Disciplinary Proceedings
If you are arrested on or off campus in Boulder, the police will typically ask if you go to school. If you say that you do, the school will be notified and you may be subject to a disciplinary proceeding. While lawyers are not allowed at disciplinary proceedings, I am familiar with the process and can help you minimize the damage.
