Colorado Grand Jury/Criminal Investigations Lawyer

If you are the target of a criminal investigation or are summoned to appear before a grand jury, it's best to hire a lawyer immediately. If you attempt to talk to investigators on your own, you could dig yourself into a hole that's hard to dig out of.

I am lawyer Marc Milavitz. From my office in Boulder, I represent people throughout Colorado who are the subject of grand jury or other criminal investigation. As your lawyer, I will run interference for you. I will stand between you and the investigators to make sure you do not say anything or do anything that could lead investigators to charge you with a crime.

Secondly, I will conduct my own investigation of the accusations against you. Police officers often investigate a case until they have enough evidence to charge someone. The investigators will not look for reasons why you may be innocent of the charges. As your attorney, I will.

There are many reasons why you should never talk to investigators without legal advice:

  • You could make statements that are incriminating
  • You could lock yourself into a story that is inconsistent with the evidence
  • Even innocent statements can be twisted into meaning something you didn't intend
  • You could makes statements that would rule out certain defenses
  • The investigators may not be truthful with you
  • You could end up giving police corroborating statements for information they can't otherwise prove

Police investigators receive extensive training in how to extract incriminating information from people during interviews. Without an attorney present, you will be at a disadvantage. Many innocent people get swept up into criminal justice system simply because they made the mistake of talking to investigators.
